There are moments in life that are hard to forget: the first time you fall, your first love, the first cocktail you savored. In our case, this applies to each and every time we meet with colleagues and friends from around the globe who have already become our familia.
As one of the four nominees in the Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar category of the Spirited Awards 2018, La Factoría’s team flew to Louisiana and gave some Puerto Rican flavor to the celebration.
“We enjoyed every second of this week, especially for the opportunity to work alongside so many Latin American colleagues who are taking the regional cocktail industry to the next level,” explained Carlos Irizarry, La Factoría’s Head Bartender.
On Wednesday, July 18 the Facto Team took over Cane and Table. They served some of our iconic cocktails and lightened up the French Square in true Facto fashion.
The party moved to Sobou on Thursday, where our boys teamed up with Puerto Rican chef Juan Carlos González to create an amazing experience. During “Festival de SoBou,” the staff from La Factoría took part of a free flowing street party featuring kioskos showcasing the cuchifritos and traditional street food of Puerto Rico and Louisiana, accented by the flavors of Don Q Rum cocktails prepared specifically for the event.
“We'd like to thank brands like Don Q, that always count on our familia to be part of events like 'Festival de Sobou', where we offered a bit of our taste to locals and visitors taking part in Tales of the Cocktail events,” said Leslie Cofresí, co-founder and owner of La Factoría.
The countdown for the Spirited Awards was almost over, but first, Cofresí joined Carlos Irizarry for “Cane Café”, an event presented by Bacardí where they had a blast serving some rum-based cocktails.
And the awards goes to…
Finally, on Saturday, July 21, 2018, the Spirited Awards 2018 took place to honor the world’s top bars, bartenders, writers and cocktail experts.
“We feel an incredible amount of pride and joy to have placed among the finalists at Spirited Awards for Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar alongside The Baxter Inn, Callooh Callay and our brothers from The Clumsies, who took home the award,” said Leslie Cofresí after the winners were announced.
“We also feel honored for being recognized among the top ten High Volume Cocktail Bars and Best Bar Teams in America, according to the Spirited Awards Regional Top 10 Lists,” added Roberto Berdecia, co-founder of La Factoría.
The team had an incredible journey at NOLA. They were extremely grateful to the brands that made them part of their events throughout the week. In fact, they enjoyed it so much that they even got back to Puerto Rico three days later than expected.
